Development in renewable energy (RE) technology over last few years has resulted in tremendous interest in this sector as a viable alternative source of energy to conventional energy resources. Earlier, renewable energy was considered to be an extremely expensive source of energy with main application in the developed world. With falling prices of Solar PV panels and development of Wind energy technology, many of the developing nations are considering RE as a viable alternative in remote locations. Importance of renewable energy is gradually penetrating the minds of the general population of South Asian countries like

Bhutan

Pakistan

Sri Lanka
. The 2nd International Conference on the Developments in Renewable Energy Technology (
ICDRET
) has been organized with a view to exchanging the ideas on implementation and dissemination of renewable energy technology in different parts of the world, with particular interest in the
South Asia
region. The scope of the conference will not be limited to technology only rather it will also address the economic and sociological aspects of renewable energy. The conference will be a forum for sharing experiences, exchanging the views from different tiers of this sector and help to forge a long lasting bondage between the academia, industry and the people involved in the dissemination of the technology at the grass root level.
